If you're not replacing the fuel injector harness, then you don't have to remove it. I wiggled the fuel rail out of the way and then removed the harness. That isn't easy with the intake manifold on. You have to reach behind and undo two hex bolts that attach the fuel injector harness to the head. Putting the new one on is even tougher. There isn't a lot of room to work. Just be patient. Having good tools makes a big difference.
While you've got the fuel rail out, you might as well check your fuel lines. If they look worn at all, you should replace them with Fuel Injected fuel lines. It is made for higher pressure than fuel line for carburated motors. Also make sure to use hose clamps designed for fuel injected cars. It also is made to hold more pressure.
